Charlie Fryer

Charlie Fryer is a poet and academic based in London. For ten years, she has split her life between Damascus, Tunis, Amman, Dushanbe and London as student of Arabic and Farsi at the universities of Exeter and Oxford and I’Insitut Français du Proche Orient. Her poetry took shape in Syria under the influence of the poets and musicians performing in the underground of Bayt al-Qasida between 2009-2011 as well as her fieldwork for a thesis on the roots and practice of contemporary Arab satire. Currently, her work wrestles the strange tides of post-Brexit identities and her own fixation on memory.
